Re:Fish

The project Re:Fish consists of 3 separate work packages (WPs).

The project aims to retrieve abandoned, lost or discarded fishing gear (ALDFG) of recreational fishing (WP1) and to collect end of life (EOL) fishing gear in separate collection campaigns (WP2).

Further, the project focuses on the measures with which the loss of fishing gear could be diminished and avoided. Recommendations of actions will be compiled taking into account the views of stake holders, i.e. fishers, gear manufacturers, boaters and authorities (WP3).

The project is lead by the Keep Sweden Tidy Foundation (Stiftelsen Håll Sverige Rent). Other project partners are the Finnish Environment Institute (implementation of WP1), Keep the Archipelago Tidy Association (implementation of WP2)  and the Estonian Marine Institute (EMI) at the University of Tarto (implementation of WP3).

The project budget is 1.78 million euros.
