Legal basis for data processing

We process your personal data as it is necessary for the performance of a task (scientific research) carried out in the public interest (Article 6 section 1 (e) of the General Data Protection Regulation and Data Protection Act (1050/2018) section 4 subsection 2 point 3).

Collected and processed personal data and the purpose for processing

We collect and process your personal data as a data set for scientific research. The personal data consists of information gathered from background questions in the survey (type of school, study municipality, year of study, hometown, nationality, age), questions assessing current living conditions (postal code area, household size, home ownership, housing and building type, choice of official municipality of residence and reasons for it, the use of different apartments, and influencing factors), as well as questions related to employment (employment during academic and/or vacation periods, location of the most recent workplace).

We use this personal data for research purposes in the "Elinvoimaiset kaupunkiseudut (Vital City Regions)” project. The survey is conducted using the web-based Webropol program. Respondents are reached through various networks of municipalities and educational institutions, and the survey link is publicly available. The data is stored and analyzed electronically. The data is processed in such a way that individual respondents cannot be identified from the results. Collected personal data will not be used for automatic decision making nor profiling.

Sources of personal data

Personal data is obtained from the registered individual themselves when they respond to the survey. Responding to the survey is voluntary.

Recipients of personal data

The collected data is processed and analyzed by researchers from the "Elinvoimaiset kaupunkiseudut (Vital City Regions)" project at the Finnish Environment Institute. Personal data will not be transferred or given outside the EU or ETA.

Protection of personal data

As the data controller, Syke has taken technical and organisational measures necessary to protect your personal data and requires these measures of any service providers used by it.

Storing of personal data

Personal data will be stored in electronic form for the time necessary for Syke to fulfil the purposes of processing described in this notice.

All unnecessary data will be deleted without delay using effective and safe methods.

You have the right to restrict the processing of your personal data based on a specific personal situation at any time.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
