Background
Since 2017, I have been a joint professor of environmental law at the Finnish Environment Institute Syke and the University of Eastern Finland since 2017. Previously, I worked as a legislative advisor at the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. In 2010, I defended my doctoral thesis on the right to water at the University of Helsinki.
My research has focused on environmental, water and climate law, including broader questions about the role of law and regulatory strategies in the sustainability transformation. For example, I have studied environmental objectives of water management, legal aspects of hydropower production and the integration of climate policy into law.
