Current tasks
I am working with the quality of the environmental laboratories. Under the name Proftest Syke we provide proficiency tests and other interlaboratory comparison (nationally and internationally) for (environmental) laboratories and for those I work as a coordinator. Furthermore, I work as a laboratory expert for international development and cooperation projects.
Background
I have been working in Finnish Environment Institute since 2013. Before coming to Syke, I worked some years as a postdoc researcher at the European Commission Joint Research Center in Ispra, Italy. There I was part of the reference laboratory for food contact materials (EURL-FCM). My thesis dealt with the chemical analysis of brown algal secondary metabolites. In the past I have also worked as a visiting researcher at the Alfred-Wegener Institute in Bremerhaven, Germany where I studied the chemistry of the arctic brown algae.
