Research tasks and interests at Syke

I am senior researcher and group manager of urban nature group. I coordinate national and international projects related to urban environment, biodiversity, nature-based solutions and sustainable land use planning. Currently I am project coordinator of Horizon Europe funded project BioAgora. Together with 21 partners we are developing 'Science Service for Biodiveristy' to support biodiversity decision-making in EU. I have studied biocultural diversity and cultural ecosystem services of urban blue-green infrastructure, and how land use planning can support circular economy. I am especially interested in studying human-nature interactions, nature-based solutions and plural values of urban nature and developing methods for supporting biodiversity protection in cities.

Expertise

Cultural ecosystem services, biocultural diversity, international cooperation, interdisciplinary research, land use planning, municipal decision-making, nature-based solutions, qualitative research methods, place-based research, research funding, stakeholder involvement, urban nature.
