Interested in action-oriented research for sustainability transformations? We invite you to join the discussion on how to co-create actionable transformative knowledge across disciplines and cultures and for different contexts.
Calls have rapidly grown for new ways of doing research for sustainability transformations. The transdisciplinary turn emphasises the need for actionable knowledge that is co-created with the practitioners. Actionable, solution-oriented knowledge is requested ever more strongly by the research funding bodies as well, such as European Commission, Strategic Research Council of the Academy of Finland or the new Innosuisse flagship funding in Switzerland.
As co-created solutions are demanded from research to tackle the wicked sustainability problems of our time, questions about how we conduct such research, which research methodologies are the most appropriate for providing co-created transformative knowledge and what problems arise from these entangled forms of research practice need to be addressed. We need to have a critical look on what kind of knowledge action-oriented research can produce and how this knowledge participates in the making of sustainability transformations.
Come and join the webinar with Dir. Guido Caniglia and Prof. Stephan Rist to discuss the applications of action-oriented research across multiple disciplines and cultures.
Dir. Guido Caniglia is the Scientific Director of the Konrad Lorenz Institute for Evolution and Cognition Research. In his work, Dir. Caniglia studies and contributes to shaping new experiments, methods, and theories in sustainability science and education. He is interested in how those can help to create knowledge and capacities for sustainability transformations.
Prof. Stephan Rist is Professor for human geography at the Institute of Geography of the University of Bern. He also works at the Centre for Development and Environment (CDE) at the University of Bern. The geographic focus is on Latin America and Africa and he is involved in several international research projects, dealing, inter alia, with transdisciplinary research approaches aiming at the enhancement of social transformation in view of environmental justice.
The keynote speeches by Dir. Caniglia and Prof. Rist will be recorded and made available after the event.
